Jamie’s Progress

This video clip shows Jamie blissfully unaware of the events that were to unfold a few months later . Though he seems happy enough, there is barely any interaction despite attempts to bring him into the world by means of Peter Rabbit. Speech is limited to echolalia from the book and is barely distinguishable, and his overriding desire is to run up and down by himself.

Just a few months later in December, Jamie was diagnosed with classic autism with all three impairments in speech, imagination and interaction. On the international ADOS scale he scored 9/10 for communication and 14/14 for interaction. The higher the score the worse the number of impairments, so 14 is worst score possible for interaction).
